Statuesque
(pronounced stach-oo-esk; "oo" pronounced as in "boot" and not as in "book") adjective
Definition
similar to or suggestive of a statue, as in dignity, grace, calmness, or stateliness (especially: having tall and an attractive or very well proportioned shape); marked by majestic or imposing dignity.
Main Example
- Look at any image of the South Manhattan skyline and one building in particular will immediately grab your attention and it does so not only because of its height but also because of the way it is proportioned: It's the statuesque One World Trade Center--also known as "Freedom Tower"--which, at 1776 feet in height, is the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere.
Workplace Examples
- Of all the pictures you took at the company's annual gala, I find this one showing our top five execs--Brad, Scott, Claire, Tricia, and Joe--to be the best. Each one of them looks statuesquely tall, and I suppose that's partly because of how you positioned the camera, right? Great photograph!
